My name is Geoffrey and I have been volunteering at RHDR for 5 years. The railway is my happy place and I enjoy helping look after it. I wash windows and litter pick at New Romney. I empty bins and wash the benches. I pick up slag off the track, brush up the leaves, weed and I love filling up the coal buckets and filling the tenders for the drivers. I like some of my jobs better than others! I have missed the railway during the pandemic and I am looking forward to returning soon because it will be good to see all the trains running again and hearing the whistles. Also there is a rumour that Black Prince may come back in the summer. I know there may not be a Steam & Diesel Gala this year but hopefully there might be an End of Season parade with a visiting engine. I love visiting engines. I would love to help with looking after the track and learn how to polish the engines one day. My mum works at the railway now too, thanks to me ;)
