Pre-booked special train tickets guarantee a seat on a VIP departure from Hythe to New Romney Station to see The Gruffalo. These tickets include a reserved seat from Hythe to New Romney and return plus some of the options below (where time permits).

There is a choice of Departures from Hythe to New Romney:

• 9:40 – 1 hour at New Romney before the homeward journey

• 10:40 – 1 hour at New Romney before the homeward journey

• 12:10 – 1 hour at New Romney before the homeward journey

• 1:20 - 1 hour at New Romney before the homeward journey

Advance online tickets include:

• Reserved seat on the VIP departure from Hythe Station to New Romney Station.

• Free parking at Hythe Station (subject to car park availability/capacity)

• Personal appearances from The Gruffalo at New Romney Stations at intervals on each day.

• Free short train rides hauled by Hercules, one of our world-famous steam locomotives around New Romney Station.

• Children’s Outdoor Play Areas will be open at New Romney.

• The Heywood Buffet will be open for takeaway drinks and snacks including our popular children’s lunchboxes.

• Collect your colouring pack before departure to enjoy at home.

• Child (1-15 years): £7.50

• Family (2 adults and up to 2 children): £40.00

Steaming Safely:

We’ve implemented a range of additional health and safety measures to protect our passengers and teams:

Queuing to meet the Gruffalo will be socially distanced. Please stay within the markings and follow the signs.

The ‘Magic Makers’ and our staff will be unable to take photos of your child with the Gruffalo, please ensure someone from your party is available to take a photo if you wish.

Physical interaction with the Gruffalo is not permitted but children may stand on the ‘Photo Point’ for parties to take their photos.
